Effective SEO Copy Writing

Copy Writing is one thing, copy Writing for the web is another and effective seo copyWriting is yet another! First off, seo copy is a trade off between something that is readable, something that is gramaticaly correct, something that sells and something that search engines will rate!

Use of Keywords

Using the keywords in the copy is the most obvious thing to do. You need to work in keywords to fit in the centence to do Effective SEO Copy Writing, see how it did that! Its also a good idea to put them in bold and as near to the top of the text as possible. This is called keyword proximity. If you are Writing about a particular topic lets say, Effective SEO Copy Writing for instance, I wouldn't wait until the last line to mention it would I?

Keyword Density

Keyword Density is another important factor in Effective SEO Copy Writing. The more times you mention a particular keyword such as, Effective SEO Copy Writing (again just of the top of my head) the more relevant the page is to that keyword. Of course this can be (and was heavily) abused so any keyword stuffing causing a filter to be triggered.

There are lots of magic values mentioned for keyword density, these range from 2% right up to silly numbers like 75%. All I say to that is try reading something that has 75% keyword density, all I say to that is try reading something that has 75% keyword density. You get my point!

Personly I don't pay any attention to it while I write something. I would say 4% as a rough guide. The point of SEO is getting a high rank which usualy means high traffic which usually means that you want to convert traffic, so why would you go to all that trouble and present them with soemthing they can't read!

Space out your content

You may have the best content in the world but if you bunch it all together no one will be able to read it. No one likes a see of black text to wade through. Space out your paragraphs and seperate relevant sections with useful sub headings.

Colour and Contrast

The colour and contrast of your seo copy is very important. It needs to contrast well. Unless there is a good reason (branding / corporate theme or phobia) you should stick to the standard black text on white background. Its easy to read. I know a break this here slightly but I will let my self off.

Other Things to think about

People scan pages rather than read them. If something catches someones eye they will stop to read it, not the other way around. This is why you whould highlight important sections in bold, use sub headings and where appropriate, use bulleted lists.
