Free your self from the Page Rank Myth

Anyone that is involved with doing SEO will no doubt have come accross the term PR or Page Rank. Page rank is a measure of the links to your site. Google terms Page Rank as follows

A link from site A to site B is seen as a vote for site B from Site A.

The Google Toolbar shows your site's PR or Page Rank as a value from 0 to 10 with 10 being the highest. Many people become obsessed with watching that green bar and trying to get as many links as possible to make the little green PR bar go higher.

Some people even go to the lengths of not linking out at all and using the rel=nofollow attribute in order to keep rpecious PR.

The Reality

If you look at any set of SERPs you will notice that there is no correlation between position and page rank. In fact it is quite common for a site with a PR of 3 to out rank a site with a PR of 4. As with anything in search it is relevance that is key. So The SEO Files top tip for today is Free your self from the Page Rank Myth and don't pay attention to your page rank but concentrate on the relevance of your content and linking.
